Starbucks Digital Network

A responsive site built around hand-picked news and entertainment served to all Starbucks customers accessing the free, in-store Wi-Fi.

The intent of this site was to enhance the customer’s in-store experience by providing exclusive content curated from a number of partners, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Zagat, and Apple.

Originally the site was designed and developed with separate “desktop” and “mobile” sites on a custom, hard-to-update content management system.

Following the success of the responsive re-design of, the original version of this site was rebuilt from the ground up using a responsive, mobile-first approach. In addition, it was moved into the same enterprise CMS that runs the main Starbucks global suite of sites.

I was responsible for the front-end development, collaborated with information architects on the functionality, and designed some of the site in the browser.
